All students [should] routinely have opportunities to experience high-quality instruction, learn challenging content, and receive necessary support to be successful. –Principles to Actions, 2014, p. 60

Schools must function to provide each and every student with the opportunity to engage in rigorous and relevant mathematics in such a way that they become confident and successful doers of math. What structures and supports provide equitable math instruction for students? What do teachers need to enhance instructional practice? What established practices are currently in place within your system to ensure all students are learning mathematics?

Join the Math Institute and the WI RtI center to discover answers to these questions. Examine systems and structures that support students and teachers in a high quality math classroom. This two day workshop will focus on strong Tier 1 instruction in mathematics. Utilize this learning opportunity to look closely at district structures to see where changes are needed to achieve positive, equitable mathematics learning experiences for all students. Discover school and classroom based strategies that promote student understanding of mathematics in Tier 1 instruction.

Mary Mooney, Mathematics Consultant from DPI, will be at the workshop to share information about DPI’s High Quality Instructional Materials initiative.

Walk away with:

  • A vision for equitable math instruction and a plan to make it happen.
  • Tools for evaluating current instructional materials, and selecting new materials and interventions.
  • Strategies to support teacher implementation of standards based high quality instruction for all learners.
  • Ideas for shifting practices to give students access to richer mathematical understanding.

Two days of collaboration will lead to a district/school plan that will have a positive impact on math instruction all year long!
