Explore ways to plan and structure synthesizing discussions based on students sharing their ideas.

How can student discourse lay the foundation for an impactful synthesis? The purpose of this session is to use samples of student work to explore ways to plan and structure synthesizing discussions based on students sharing their ideas. Synthesis is a key part of a problem-based lesson.

Learning Goals

  • Practice using student thinking to drive learning.
  • Anticipate student thinking.
  • Select and sequence student work.
  • Plan for an activity synthesis.

Audience: Teachers implementing IM 6-12 Math who want more opportunities for planning an activity synthesis or an introduction to the 5 Practices for Orchestrating Productive Mathematics Discussions

Cost: $200

REFUND POLICY: Cancellations made more than 180 days prior to this event will receive a full refund minus a 10% processing fee. Cancellations made between 180 and 30 days of the event will receive a 50% refund minus a 10% processing fee. No refunds will be issued for cancellations made within 30 days of the event.
