IM 6-12 Math: Fostering Synthesis Through Discourse

Synthesis is a key part of a problem-based lesson. In the IM Curriculum, synthesis often happens through student discourse. Using samples of student work, explore ways to plan and structure synthesizing discussions based on students sharing their ideas.

Learning Goals

  • Plan for synthesis through discourse
  • Anticipate student strategies based on the activity and students
  • Select and sequence student work that supports building student understanding toward the learning goals
  • Strengthen questioning strategies in the synthesis by connecting student strategies with the learning goal

IM 6-12 Math: Fostering Synthesis Through Discourse

Workshop Date: February 8, 2022

Workshop Times: 3:30 – 5:30pm CST

Audience: Teachers, with coaches and leaders

Location: Online

Cost: $200

CANCELLATION POLICY: Cancellations made more than 180 days prior to this event will receive a full refund minus a 10% processing fee. Cancellations made between 180 and 30 days of the event will receive a 50% refund minus a 10% processing fee. No refunds will be issued for cancellations made within 30 days of the event.

The deadline to register is February 4, 2022.

*Workshop may not run if enrollment is less than 15 participants. In the event of a cancellation due to low enrollment full refunds will be issued.*
